Hi Quicksilver fans !

There's a new build available at http://code.google.com/p/blacktree-alchemy/downloads/list.

Things I fixed :

Saving encapsulated commands in triggers (Encapsulated commands are built by Ctrl-Return-ing in the command window, and provide a way to delay execution of a command (and many other things)).

Some proxy stuff. Please test proxies extensively, and report if there are any issue with them.

Non-latin characters support. It fixes the issue Iwan and Sesquidpedalian have reported in this group.

Bug fixes. (The complete changelog spans from r210 to r246)

Quit dialogue always on top
Replace / File conflict popup always on top, doesn't disappear.
Dodgy closing of setup assistand (you can't close it until you've
finished the whole setup now!)

for beginners to have a look at?

That's really up to you ;-). Since QS have been in beta from the
start, you are already running an "unofficial" build ;-). The best
advice I can give to you is duplicate your Quicksilver files (App
Support/Quicksilver & Preferences/com.blacktree.quicksilver.plist) and
try running the lastest version. If you find it stable enough, keep
it, if you want to revert to the b54 build, just remove the b55 build
form your machine and replace the duplicated folders (I don't know if
there are differences in how b54 and b55 store an user's settings,
that's why you should keep a b54 compatible App Support folder around).

Also know that running the lastest build will greatly help me, because
I will know the bug is still there (while running b54 doesn't tell me
this until I try to reproduce, and it's usually the hard step in
debugging one's problem).

Seems very buggy. Some of the plugins (the Services Menu Module for
one) seem to cause quicksilver to quit within 5 seconds of launching.
some of my triggers from a3 don't work or don't work right (the
command window in text mode, the command window with selection)

Is there any reason why the build is Intel only?

Just installed the new beta. Can't get hotkey activation to work
(command + space). It was previously assigned to QS and worked fine
prior to installation.

OK, actually, QS won't respond to or accept any keystrokes. If I bring
it up via clicking on the dock icon, anything I type just results in
an error sound. even clicking on the QS window won't allow it to
accept keystrokes.

I had to revert to a Time Machine backup in order to get it working
again. Even reinstalling the previous beta didn't resolve the behavior
after attempting to use v4.

Why is there so much disparity between packages/users?

move your ~/Library/Application Support/Quicksilver folder and
reinstall your plugins one at a time until you find the problem (or
don't). I did this and the problem mysteriously vanished even with all
the same plugins installed.

I am experiencing the same quit-almost-immediately-after-opening as
soon as I load the Services plugin as well.

Where's a good place to upload the crash reports? Don't really want
to file a defect/ticket unless someone can certify that they want me
to do so...

Apart from the services menu plugin crash I can reproduce, working
fine for the few minutes I've been testing. Note it also fixes the
crashes I was having with build 117 of the file tagging plugin which
just rocks! :-)

Note - people should always backup their ~/Application Support/
Quicksilver folder before trying the latest builds. Also renaming it
and adding plugins and files one-by-one lets one know exactly where a
problem may lie...

I'm not having a quit-immediately-after-opening problem, but rather a
quit-on-type problem. Basically, QS opens fine and I can access the
prefs, but when I invoke the QS window and start typing a search, it
never registers and QS quickly crashes. I haven't gone through the
full-reinstall process, so it could be a plugin issue, but I'm
wondering if anyone else has this issue? If not, oh well—I'll just
keep using B54, which works fine for me, but I'd like to keep up with
QS development if I can.

HotKey Triggers and Primer Interface.

I've downloaded the universal package, and it simply doesn't work. At
the begging, I would only get the flying logo and then nothing, no
dock icon, no menu-bar icon, and only click sounds when opening the
app or hitting the hotkey.
After dumping all the prefs and support files, I get the setup guide
on the first run, but when that's done, back to the same deal.
Nothing in the console.

First, sorry for the Intel-only build, I forgot to change back the
setting ;-). Also, sorry to hear that I broke Services Menu... I'll
try to see what I changed that now causes a crash (surely related to
my changes to Action handling), but the best would be to update the
Service Module (it's already known to work intermittently on Leopard).

@Niel: I forgot to point out that I changed much stuff w.r.t trigger
save and thus they might not be completely compatible (that explains
the issue you're seeing on triggers). I'm interested in knowing if
something shows up in Console when you try to check a catalog item.

@Iwan: Can you open a ticket with the crash log/console info for your
mail plugin problem ?

@Daniel: Is there anything showing up in Console after the crash ?

I'm also able to reproduce the Calculator crash, I'll try to see if I
can fix it.

If I erase all my settings and start from scratch b56a4 (3823) loads
and works. The universal build works but it doesn't show any interface
and does not respond to my triggers.

Hey, forgot this one too ;-).
I tried to fix modifier-only activation (which was utterly broken on
Leopard, because it only worked if QS was the front app), but although
it now works even if QS isn't the front app, it will register
modifiers EVEN if they are used for shortcuts (like pressing Cmd-C/Cmd-
V quickly with Cmd set as a double-modifier). I'll try to finish the
fix, but I thought it would be better to merge the modifier-only
activation feature inside triggers (since they are pretty much doing
the same thing, and would allow for even more powerful triggers ;-)).

Apologies to those of you that use modifier-only activation
extensively, I will fix this ASAP.

This happened to me. I think what happened is that the new Quicksilver
is hiding its icon in the dock. This is a feature that was enabled by
the update. After launching QS, try invoking QS from the normal hot
key and then press cmd-comma That should bring up the preferences
window. Then you can click on the 'Show icon in dock' checkbox.

Hi,

It does not work at all on my macbook pro for the 'function' (fn)
key. I'm on leopard and build 3815 worked just fine?

I also reverted to that version on my macpro since it does apeare now
when pressing the key for a longer time and that's really bad. I have
it on ctrl and can not type control-c in the terminal anymore...
