Hi,

I recently acquired a Stream Deck XL for my MacBook Pro M1, running OS12.6 and QS 2.4.0 (4039). All software and firmware is up to date on all devices.

When the Stream Deck app is running, I've noticed that Quicksilver lags as I type into the QS popup. Also, there's a spinning "loading wheel" in the lower right of the QS popup that cycles on and off at a consistent rate, which I never see without Stream Deck running. Also, the QS interface is as snappy as I've known for years once Stream Deck is fully quit.

I'm not sure if there is some setting that I might be missing or have never used (I've been using QS for about a decade and love it). Or is it a bug that I should report? Both utilities seem to do similar things in that they allow quick access to apps/scripts/etc. while awaiting keypresses, so it might be that they're bumping into each other somehow.

I've tried reducing my catalogue, but that didn't get rid of the spinning indicator or the lagginess. And again when Stream Deck isn't running there's no lag.

The Stream Deck app is not yet native to Apple Silicone, which might also exacerbate the effect.

Thanks!
Gordie

I have the same problem and Streamdeck is (I believe) causing QS to crash regularly. I am running v5.3.3 of the Streamdeck app as I am using Mac Mojave and the new version of the app is not compatible.

Thanks for the info. I'm unfamiliar with the Stream Deck. How do you install the app in question? The homebrew package `elgato-stream-deck` looks promising?

I've had a report of Keyboard Maestro causing issues, but I didn't notice anything running it and QS side-by-side for a week or so.

... [a few hours later]...

I have been running Stream Deck and QS all morning with no apparent issues. I wonder if there is some minimal config I need to provoke issues?

I ran QS for a couple of days with just Keyboard Maestro (no Streamdeck) to see if I could reproduce the laggy input or crashes. QS worked fine but then I started Streamdeck and the laggy input began immediately. I quit Streamdeck and it was fine again. I haven't waited long enough to see if QS will crash but there is almost certainly an interaction.

Ira -- do you have any configuration with the streamdeck, or just a default install?

What hardware?

Looks like streamdeck is for managing external AV equipment (is that right?) -- do you have anything connected? If so, can you try with the external monitor (or what have you) disconnected (assuming you're on a laptop).

Thanks for chiming in.
