to Black Tape
Hi folks

We hope this finds you all well and ready to get messy drunk and have
fun.

We've got a few things to tell you:

1. Red Tape
2. Red Tape Special featuring Tropics
3. Radio
4. BLACK TAPE 2ND BIRTHDAY

But before we do that, can we recommend that if you're out and about
tonight, you go an visit our good friends This Is Music. The event
info is here -
http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=logo#/event.php?eid=32017858860
and entry is only 99p for two great bands and lots of the dancin'.

1. RED TAPE
Red Tape continues quietly as it has done for a year now at Sneaky
Pete's. It's Black Tape DJs and friends playign a very, very eclectic
(random) mix of tunes. The only real thread is that all the music is
good. It's a pretty laid back atmosphere with cheap booze that seems
to attract all the Tuesday night crowd who aren't into drumnbass or
student cheese. Go on, try it.

2. RED TAPE SPECIAL - TUESDAY 18TH NOVEMBER
Tropics (www.myspace.com/tropicsmusic) take a break from touring with
the mighty Russian Circles and These Arms Are Snakes to come and play
for us at Sneaky Pete's, and Glasgow's Some Young Pedro
(www.myspace.com/someyoungpedro) bring their 'frantic punk rock' as
support, needless to say it's going to be quite a show.
Entry is FREE, doors are at 11, Some Young Pedro on at 12, Tropics at
1. Curfew is 3. Black Tape DJs will 'entertain' between bands.
Facebook event is here -

3. WE'RE GOING TO BE ON THE RADIO
Continuing the theme of people asking us to do things we really
shouldn't be doing, we've been asked to do a wee set on the radio. On
Thursday 4th December, we'll be doing an hour on Fresh Air from
10-11pm. We'll no doubt play a bunch of good music while trying not to
swear. It should be fun. You can listen live at http://www.freshair.org.uk/
and there seems to be a webcam, so you can see us DJing in our pants.
Yay!

4. BLACK TAPE 2ND BIRTHDAY! -
Somehow we've made it to two years (yes, we know we've been away for a
wee while, it wasn't our fault).

We're now at a glorious new venue, Sneaky Pete's on the Cowgate. It
used to be Red, and it's next door to Opium. Apparently it's a
"cutting edge underground venue" according to the List who love it -

Anyway, here's the info:

Black Tape 2nd Birthday
5th December
Sneaky Pete’s, 73 Cowgate

Gig: 8pm-10.30pm, Entry: £3

Club: 10.30pm-3am, Entry: Free

With live sets from…
THE CHAPMAN FAMILY

and
THIEVES IN SUITS

Black Tape is back after an extended hiatus, and we’ve moved to a
great new venue, the recently refurbished Sneaky Pete’s on Cowgate.
5th December will see us belatedly celebrating our 2nd birthday, and
we’ve got some very special treats in store for you. We’ll be starting
the night with a gig before proceeding with our usual pop club fun,
guest DJs and all:

Teeside’s The Chapman Family play dark, infectious pop songs about
murder, have toured with the likes of We Are Scientists, 80s Matchbox
and Reverend and the Makers, as well as receiving plaudits from just
about every corner of the alternative music press. In a recent NME
feature they were described as ‘gloom-punk masterminds,’ which to us
sounds like a most delightful prospect. We’re very excited to have
them come and play for us on our first night back; just look at some
of the great things that have been said about The Chapman Family:
'The sound of death itself' - NME, October 08
'Venomous and visceral they rupture into a set of dark vivacious
rock...theatrical and terrifying performance hypnotizes...a thunderous
racket. Unhinged and confrontational...frightening the audience. The
Chapman Family are the real thing.' - Artrocker, May 08
'Heads down snarling gonzo rock n roll...see them immediately' - The
Fly Magazine, February 08

Support will come from Edinburgh-based Thieves In Suits, who’ve been
playing around town at such esteemed nights as Limbo, and have earned
the approval of Vic Galloway along the way.

Thanks for reading. See at one of our wee events soon.
