Dear Blacklight Community,
I made these stickers to give away at the code4lib conference this year, but then I didn't attend because of Covid-19. Who knows when I'll be at a conference in person to give away stickers again, so I'm going to try to do this from quarantine.
Daphne Caruana Galizia was an investigative journalist who was murdered, most people believe to silence her because she was working on The Panama Papers [2]. The Panama Papers investigation uncovered widespread financial corruption and asset hiding by powerful people in many countries and they used our software, Blacklight, for their data analysis. I therefore consider Daphne Caruana Galiza to be a member of our community who was murdered, and I wanted to commemorate her in some small way.
The drawing is by my friend Camila Castro.
If you would like a sticker, shoot me an email (please do not spam this list) with your address and how many you'd like. If you're part of a team, feel free to pool your requests to save me the labor and postage.
Thanks,
Bess
