Dear Spotlight Community,

At the conclusion of the successful Spotlight Summit and subsequent working group report out in June 2024, we heard the loud and clear request for community governance. Many people shared the opinion that a governance structure was an essential element to establish as we work to further coalesce our community.

Taking this request to heart, over the past several weeks 3 of us have been meeting to outline a possible governance approach: Vanessa Venti (Harvard), Phil Robinson (Cornell), and me - Cathy Aster (Stanford). We’ve outlined our proposal in this governance document. We believe it is important to start small, establish clear and achievable goals, and hopefully build on small successes.

Please provide your anonymous feedback by 31 August 2024. We’ll use your feedback to help solidify a governance structure, which we’ll discuss at our planned quarterly community meeting on Wednesday, 25 September at 10:00 am PT / 11:00 am MT / 12:00 pm CT / 1:00 pm ET.

Kind regards,
Cathy Aster, Phil Robinson & Vanessa Venti
