Blacklighteers,

Even as the pandemic continues, so does Code4Lib’s annual conference. Though the conference will be online this year, the organizers have stressed that that there still expenses that need to be covered.

Each year, Blacklight-enthusiast institutions combine their contributions to support the conference under the Project Blacklight name. Last  year 10 institutions pooled $10,000 and broke the Diamond level for sponsorship. If you can sponsor this year, please do! One possible wrinkle: the organizers need to know by tomorrow, Friday, Feb 5.

This year’s  Code4Lib 2021 prospectus page with sponsorship levels is at https://2021.code4lib.org/prospectus/. Institutions can register as a Blacklight sponsor at https://na.eventscloud.com/sponsor.c4l21. There is an opportunity to request an invoice before paying if that's needed for your workflow.

Mary Jinglewski from the C4L Sponsorship Committee is copied on this message and can help address any administrative questions.

Thanks to the collective and swift action by the institutions below, Blacklight is once again a Platinum sponsor for the Code4Lib conference, with $8,500 going to support this year’s event. A large Blacklight logo is now on the conference main page (yay), and we have also allocated our two free conference registrations to the financial assistance fund, to offset registration fees for those in need.

As a Platinum sponsor, Blacklight can also set up an “Exhibitor Booth” (virtually) and a Live Showcase (virtually) to interact with conference goers. Is anyone interested in helping provide content / staff these? I’m thinking there were likely some videos and other tutorial information prepared for the two summits last year that might lend themselves to this year’s online format.

Code4Lib has been such an important forum in helping Blacklight develop over the years, and it’s good to see the Blacklight community organizing to help support Code4Lib; thanks to everyone who keeps the project rolling along in their own way.
