Dear Blacklight Community,
Our community sprint to prepare the Blacklight 8 release has concluded. Over the course of last week 29 pull requests, 16 edits to the wiki, and 4 release candidates were submitted. Information about upgrading to Blacklight 8, including the status of Blacklight plugins, is included in the
Blacklight wiki. The Blacklight 8 release will be discussed and is scheduled to occur after the
February 15th committer's call at
2pm Eastern time. Please attend the meeting if you have any feedback.
A big thanks goes out to the 15 participants from 5 institutions who contributed to the sprint by testing the upgrade path from Blacklight 7 to 8, reporting and addressing any encountered issues, reviewing code submissions, and updating documentation. They were:
Columbia University Libraries
Benjamin Armintor
Princeton University Library
Christina Chortaria
Carolyn Cole
Anna Headley
Regine Heberlein
Eliot Jordan
Max Kadel
Ryan Laddusaw
Trey Pendragon
Jane Sandberg
Stanford University Libraries

Based on the success of this past community sprint, there is interest in scheduling another one later this year to support the plugins and continue sustained maintenance of the Blacklight codebase. More details will be discussed in future committer calls.
Regards,
Nikitas
