What's the difference between .ipd and .bbb backup files on bbos?

I wanted to know what is the difference bet 'xx.ipd' and 'xx.bbb' backup file of a bbos device thru DM?

Earlier the backup use to save in 'xx.ipd' extension and now it automatically saves to 'xx.bbb'.

NN m not sure but I think BlackBerry always made the backup in .bbb format.

Hmmm. I've been racking my brain and came up with this. maybe the 'xx.ipd' extension is for full backups and the 'xx.bbb' is for custom backups.

V7 backup file is. bbb &  V6 backup file is .ipd

Earlier BlackBerry backup files used to have .ipd extention but lates BlackBerry DM as well as BlackBerry link both store backup with .bbb extention. 

It has nothing to do with full or partial backup...

Never made a backup on v5 device so didn't know about .ipd
