The link for the latest firmware says it is 2.10, which of course also doesn't exist in the changelog. I downloaded it and using the firmware updater in Hubitat went to upload then update the z-wave device. It took maybe less than 5 minutes and seemed to progress normally. When it was done (or when it started?) the light switch turned on, and at the end also turned off again.
But I return to the device and it's still showing 2.00 as the version. At least based on the URL itself (I don't know if I can post it here? But it's on their firmware page) it would seemingly indicate a 2.10 version...
For z-wave stuff, I change it to the Basic Z-Wave Tool type since I can use that to directly verify parameters and firmware. When I switch back to the device's normal Type driver, the firmware value then shows correctly.
Maybe not specific to this, but as I get more devices from more brands - how on earth do you check for updates/know a device needs to be updated and go about updating them! No devices update automatically do they?
When possible, update when you first install a new-to-you device to get the latest, and then just bookmark the device manufacturer's corresponding resource page (when available) -- I just check those once in a while to see if anything's new. I keep a simple spreadsheet for my devices that includes model #, current f/w, battery type, etc etc
ETA -- firmware for zigbee devices aren't commonly user-doable -- those are made available by Hubitat when the manufacturer works with them to do that. But you can update most z-wave devices with files available form the manufacturer.
Hubitat needs a feature to know which devices you have (done), know their firmware version (done) and monitor the latest version available (would be nice) - at least to ping you to choose to update yourself manually.
Trying to trade out old Z-Wave (non-plus) switches. On 9/2 I ordered a ZEN76 as a trial run. Put it in a room. Updated to the 10.0 firmware. It's been running a few days and then this morning it came on by itself and it's dead. Can't do a reset. Tried removing from power for an hour. No indicator light, no response at all. Totally dead. I'll contact support for a replacement. I had heard a lot of love for Zooz switches in the Hubitat community, and I thought they'd be good for non-3 way applications. I have ZEN72 on order to put in the kitchen. Now, I'm hesitant to install. Do you think the firmware upgrade doomed it? Is this typical of Zooz? I have a Z-Wave stick used for PC Controller to do firmware updates and ghost removal. And I have a ZSE18 motion detector that is stellar. But, this is the first infant death of seen of a Z-Wave switch and I have upwards to 60 of them, a few Inovelli and the rest Jasco (GE/Honeywell/Ultra Pro) Curious what you'll say. Oh, and WOW it really sucks that there's no air gap. I literally had to shut off the breaker to turn off these lights in the middle of the night...
Have also done a fairly large install at a client with over 70 Zooz switches/dimmers. The only issues there have been improper installation of a few by the electrician - not using the screws that come in the package, forcing a switch into a tight box and bending the front plate, and improper wiring due to confusion over smart switches in general. Even then it was like 3 or so switches at issue.
Not having used that particular model I can't say for certain that it is a lemon or not - but in general Zooz has been very reliable for my use-cases. Also should mention that Zooz support has always been great - in some instances they've sent replacements even though it might not necessarily have been the devices fault.
This is true now. However, my first customer service experience with Zooz was awful (back in 2017-2018). The device, a Zooz mini-plug that they no longer sell, failed within 3 months of purchase, and Zooz support seemed to believe it was because the load it was connected to (a RPi power-supply) was too low. Then they wanted me to send them the mini-plug for "in-house" testing before considering a warranty claim. Like anyone is going to go through the expense of mailing things back and forth for a $20 device.
Anyway, I'm glad I got over the bad taste that left in my mouth because the Zooz devices I've purchased since then have been well-made and have lasted several years. One Zen21 switch is 4-5 years old at this point of time.
This switch has 90.4 watts of LED can lights worth of load. So, I don't think that was it. The previous GE non-plus switch had been in place since January of 2018. Only replaced it because I'm trying to eliminate these old switches that need polling. I'll contact Zooz support soon.
I had a similar plug (the one with 2 usb charging ports) which also died. I think it was a rebrand of something else. I did not try and return it because I'm pretty sure I killed it with too much load but dunno.
So was mine (it is still available as a Neo Coolcam mini-plug). At one point of time, Zooz products were all white-label, with specialized FW developed by Zoos adding utility and value. I don't know if that is still the case.
I have a house full of various Zooz switches, I had one of the 7x switches do this also, the toggle version. Zooz asked me a couple of questions and then replaced, and gave me a label to send the old one back. New one has been going for a while now, no issues.
Only other issues I have had with them getting "stuck" is resolved by flipping the breaker off/on. Only the dimmer have air-gaps (its required on the dimmers for safety when changing bulbs). I had one dimmer that got stuck so bad the air gap did not even resolve it, had to flip the breaker. But that does not happen anymore at all, I think the combination of the zwave update on the C7 and I also re-paired with no security. Since I did both of those they stopped getting locked up.
if you just got it, and its new it might be hardware v2 (my last 2 were - bought off Amazon because I was in a hurry and had some points to use, but normally prefer buying direct, better prices and shipping just as fast) ... in which case FW 10.0 is not right
That is the one thing that's irked me about Zooz. Kudos to them for embracing the Agile model and pushing hardware revisions quickly, but it does add a layer of confusion. I have a multitude of ZEN21s. A handful of them are hardware v3.0 and the rest are v3.01 or later. I had several of them controlling bathroom fans. The only one that never had a problem is hardware v3.0. Every single fan that was on a v3.01 or later hardware version would lock up the switch requiring a reset from the circuit breaker.
@agnes.zooz It might be worth putting a warning/disclaimer on the ZEN76 firmware page that there are multiple hardware versions and the firmware have to match the hardware version, kind of like there is on the ZEN77. A la:

I got the stick. I got the software installed. I excluded the Zen76 from SmartThings. I attempted to add it to the stick so I could update the firmware, but after 5 attempts, it would not add to the stick.
