I was just looking at the last Google cache of the forum on Oct 7th.
There is a phone number at the bottom....does it do us any good
knowing that number????

I didn't know that BKF took donations either. I have seen sites that
ask for donations. I joined in 2008, so perhaps the donation feature
was something that Laz added later on. However, when I first found
the forum, I was so distraught--as are many--that I really paid little
attention to the side details, and simply did the necessary
registration requirements in order to post my question.

Tobee, did you donate money to bkforum each month? I'm just curious
you state they stopped taking out payments? If you aren't comfortable
answering that is fine. :)

it was on a quarterly basis for the donation...it was called a
contribution, really. that is way you would see with new members
either what ever it said for a newbie or a contributor.

also, i called the number and it's the server and they can't help. :(

as you can see by the site i listed, the domain is paid through dec of
this year...i think AC had mentioned that as well. it's just too odd
they are wiped off the face of the earth!

the mystery continues......

Flamingo is in the house! :-) As to the below, I can only surmise it
was known in advance the forum was going to be brought down if the
forum was still up and running and your indicated donation payments
were slated to stop (via notification) on 10/2. That shows there was
advance notification for that to be done and that can only be done by
a site administrator/owner. I am amazed as to how this occurred with
no notification to any moderators and nothing on the home page of the
site indicating to anyone visiting that the site is down for whatever
reason....I am really anxious to find out what occurred here because
many of us were long-term members of that forum and most of us mods
have many years as moderators on that forum. But it appears as to the
donation cancellations in advance of of the site going down that plans
were in place....

I do not ever remember an option to sign up to make a contribution,
but as I said before, when I did find the forum and sign up, I was so
intent on getting the bare essentials done to make the account active,
so I could ask my question.

Finding the original BKF was almost a life saver for me, and then
'Hub, when I confessed that I had joined an online forum--an online
forum was one of our major downfalls.

To quote shark66 (hope he finds us) "God help us all."
