I have some exciting news that I was going to wait until bkforum was back up so I could continue it in my thread but since that seems like it might be some time before that happens I can't stand it any longer. This post is probably longer than it would of been on bkforum as the previous information isn't available. I hope you all make it to the end because that is where the exciting news is, LOL.
About a year and a half ago I lost my permanant fulltime job due to medical issues and I ran out of FMLA so I was terminated. I have fibromyalgia and though some people believe that it is a imaginary illness for those of us who have it, I assure you it is not. Along with losing my job I also lost my health insurance as well.
Since I lost my job I have been jumping from one temporary job to another because even though I probably sent out 500 resumes in that time it was hard even finding a temp job. Last October I landed a temp job in a call center for a non-profit company. It was a great position and I was hoping that they would hire me permanantly. Since they didn't have the budget for that I really needed something with benefits so I finally got a job in July of this year that was permanant and I left the temp position. Well, that job ended up being a nightmare for a number of reasons and I left it after only 2 weeks. I was lucky enough to find another temp job pretty quickly which is where I am working now.
After I lost my fulltime job I was unable to pay even the minimum balance on my credits cards and stopped paying them last August. The inevitable happend and Capital one is now suing me with the other cards quickly getting to that point. I decided to file C-13 and luckily I am able to do that only working temporarily. I met with my attorney last week and it looks like my payment is going to be about $100/month for 36 months. Thanks to Ladyinred who told me that I could file without having all the information. My bank accounts are on the verge of getting seized and the C-13 filing stopped that.
About a week and a half ago, the director of the non-profit company where I temped at called me and asked me if I would consider coming back. She proposed that I go through a temp service and have them place me there. I told her that I really hesitate to go from one temp job to another and that I really needed benefits and that is why I left in the first place....so I went out on a limb and told her I would love to come back but I really needed something permanant with benefits. GUESS WHAT? and this kind of stuff NEVER happens to me so I am still shocked days later!
They offered me a permanant position! What makes all this great is that their benefits are at no cost to me (health, dental, vision, disability and life insurance) and in addition the put in 10% of your annual salary into a pension. Along with that I get 17 days of PTO to start with and now I will get paid for holidays. My C-13 payment is going to stay the same because they hired me at my same hourly wage as what I was making temp.
You have no idea what this does to my stress level. 2 months ago I was on the verge of being kicked out of my apartment and contemplating having to live in my car. I am on cloud 9 and had to share with peole that would understand just how lucky I am to have this opportunity.
For those of you that managed to read all the way to here :) I have one question. They have a mandatory overtime rule of working 16 hours a pay period through their busy season which is November through January. Do you think this will affect anything when I go to my 341 meeting? I am guessing that will happen around Thanksgiving and I had to show my paystubs and with 16 hours of overtime a pay period on my check it will make a huge difference but only through January. It would be great if I would be able to keep that money as it is only for 2 months but it sure would help in establishing a emergency fund.
Sorry again for such a long post!
