IKEA StrategyOne year on from the launch of the IKEA Group Sustainability Strategy for 2020 (PDF), Chief Sustainability Officer, Steve Howard, reports back on the company’s goal to have an overall positive impact on people and the planet. 
 
Steve will provide an overview of the progress, and speak candidly about the successes and challenges of implementing People & Planet Positive, with a specific focus on:

  • The goal to make sustainability affordable to millions of people
  • The aim to help transform commodities, including cotton and wood, in partnership with others
  • The ambition to become resource and energy independent
  • How IKEA is making a difference for people and communities, improving life for co-workers and those working for suppliers around the world

About Steve Howard

Steve Howard is Chief Sustainability Officer for the IKEA Group and a member of its Group Management team, a role he has held since January, 2011. Steve believes that sustainability will be one of the mega-trends that shape society and the business landscape this century. He is committed to developing innovative ways to make sustainability attractive and affordable for everyone.
Prior to IKEA, Steve was the founder and CEO of The Climate Group, an independent non-profit organisation working internationally with government and business leaders to cut global emissions and build a low carbon economy.
