Dear Elizabeth,

Please pass this along to relevant parties, students, and/or colleagues.

I am looking for five interns to assist with research on my second nonfiction book (to be published by Chronicle Books), which focuses on both contemporary fashion and art collaborations. This project will begin with a soft start this January 2014, with the majority of work being done during February and March. (In other words, it won’t conflict with final papers, etc.)

Each intern will be expected to work 16 hours per week. The majority (and perhaps all) of the research will be done remotely. Interns must be willing to do research in archives, like The New York Public Library, The MET, FIT, etc. when necessary and/or appropriate. This research will primarily entail hunting down books, magazine articles, newspaper articles, and reputable online columns on subjects like: PRADA, Tim Walker, Yves Saint Laurent, Cindy Sherman, Comme des Garcons, etc. If possible, also getting in touch with brand PR teams to acquire information and/or secure interviews.

The primary requirements are accuracy and tenacity. I am looking for students who understand that the best information is not always available on the first page of a Google Search and that conflicting source information exists, so searching for numerous sources and triple-checking everything is essential. This internship will offer the opportunity to not only strengthen your research skills, but to understand how to turn research into something publishable.

I am happy to fill out any paper work in order for students to receive credit for this internship. (It will easily lend itself to writing the required paper for such credit.) I will also be happy to write recommendations to future employers. If possible, your work will also be acknowledged and thanked in the book.

Priority will be given to past and present Parsons students of the MA Fashion Studies program. However, these positions are open to any New York City-based graduate and undergraduate students, who specialize in fashion and/or contemporary art. Students taking a semester off are also welcome to apply. Feel free to pass this along to relevant parties, friends and/or colleagues.

If interested, please send your resume to EPCu...@Gmail.com.

If you feel like your resume does not adequately portray your knowledge, you are welcome to shoot me an email briefly explaining your areas of study, expertise, and interest. If you want to help with the book, but are unable to commit to 16 hours a week, feel free to contact me. I’m sure we can find something that works for both of us.
