Post Hurricane recovery class!

Hi all, 

Hope you survived the storm okay. 

So we are going to do this week's class as if it were last week. We are reading the Zukin selections in our content area of the Blackboard site as well as the piece by Conroy about 'Discount Dreams' 

I am attaching another very very short somewhat poetic piece about the experience of shopping, which I think you all will enjoy. 

I was going to have us also discuss the Niinimaka on Eco clothing, but I want to save that for another day. 

Also, if you have worked on your clothing projects as assigned last week, please bring them in. If the hurricane stopped you from doing that, it's okay, you can bring them in the week after. In addition, if you could send your photos from the workshop day to Jessamyn...@nyu.edu, she would really really appreciate it. She is going to do an entry on her blog about her experience in our class! So let's get her some good photos (mine are all blurry and dark, will send to anyone who  is curious, or perhaps I can attach them here). 

So I hope we are all clear on what's going on this week. The administration  has extended the semester through to December 13th to make up for the lost day last week. Let's discuss this change in schedule when we meet. 

Hope you all managed to get through the craziness of last week, and fingers crossed tomorrow's baby storm isn't too terrible.
