Viman releases Floating License Manager Customized for SCO Developers.
Version 3.3 of LicenseServ, a floating license toolkit for developers,
has just been released with special functions for SCO developers.
1. Viman has added support for the Xenix 386 operating system.
2. Viman has developed a "stand-alone" version of LicenseServ.
Stand Alone Configuration
Other license managers depend on communication between an application
and the license server via TCP/IP. Many SCO installations consist of
a single machine serving many terminals via a multiport serial card;
no TCP/IP services are built into the OS so conventional license
managers do not work. This is a very common configuration for retail,
office and small manufacturing businesses.
With Viman's "stand-alone" version of LicenseServ, the license manager
is locked to the operating system's serial number and applications talk
to the license manager via IPC message queues.
Easy to Incorporate
Developers can easily add floating licensing to their applications with
a couple of simple calls to the LicenseServ libraries. They are then
able to charge for their programs on a concurrent usage basis. This
enables the developer to earn additional revenue as his customer's
installation grows.
Price and Availability
LicenseServ 3.3 for SCO sells for $2500 for either the TCP/IP version
or the "stand alone" version. Both can be purchased together for $3,750.
This is a one time fee; no royalties, run time fees or limits to the
number of programs a developer can license.
LicenseServ 3.3 is available immediately; an evaluation kit is available
at no charge.
