BEWARE of ARIS SINGAPORE: they're a BUNCH OF THIEVES!

I have bought a JAZZ JAKARTA MPEG Video card (772.50s$) from a shop in Funan
Centre in Singapore (ARIS Microsystems Pte Ltd) and every attempt to make it
work failed: I took it back to the shop (wasting 5 long hours) they even sent
a technician to my place, but with no success. And now (6 weeks later) they
refuse to refund me, because, according to them, the card was in perfect
working order!
In spite of all they say, their card is NOT FULLY IBM-PC COMPATIBLE, and they
didn't have a proper Windows 95 driver for it. So, INNOCENT CUSTOMER BEWARE:
don't buy anything from ARIS unless you are prepared to lose your money if it
doesn't work!

You haven't experienced the worst until you've tried an Aris
Microcomputer PC. In my experience, that is the worst, absolutely the
poorest made PC in the world. Granted they purchase brand-name
components but they're not tested for compatibility! I bought one 2
years back. Before 6 months went by, all sorts of gremlins went to
work - sudden crashes, sudden re-boots, ports quitting on you without
rhyme or reason.
I must have contacted them a dozen times. Each time, some poor
technician comes around, fiddles around trying to fix an essentially
irreparable computer, at his wits' end. After numerous calls for a
resolution, I gave up. In the end, I decided that that, in order to
prevent high blood pressure and homicidal urges, I'd better get rid of
it. Bought motherboard, chip, etc., separately and installed
everything inside the Aris case and my newly upgraded computer works
fine! Cost me an additional two grand but it's worth it just to get
the bad taste of the @#$*&%$*& out of my mouth. I just hope they
haven't cheated too many students (or people with limited budgets) out
of their hard-earned savings. Somebody should do something about large
corporates who bully individual consumers - they ignore you knowing
fully well that one person cannot make a difference.
God save the world if they manage to get a public listing (and
horrors, distribute that poor excuse of a computer widely)! : (

I'm sure they feel very cheated by Aris. Anyone would be if they
bought stuff and it didn't work. It just goes to show how lame you are
Malek. And yes...I'm hiding my userid. So?

What a pathetic and lame excuse.

Send the complaints where it belonged.

remedy their faults..

You'd mean you'd rather them cheat paople out of their money than go
bust? I have heard so many horror stories about Aris. Bad parts, poor
service and unqualified staff. They do not affect me in anyway as I
build my own computers but imagine the average layman on the street.
He goes to the shop, gets shown a demo of what an Aris computer can
do, buys it, brings it back and it goes boom! I have a personal friend
who bought a P100 from Aris and the thing refused to boot after 2
weeks! And do you know how long they brought it back?? 3 MONTHS!! A
simple change of MB would have sufficed. I hereby give you Aris
Computers. Maybe Malek or you should get a PC from them and post your
experiences.....

What I'm trying to say is to take things easy...you could
'tune' your mind to the wicked side of doing things...That is
like telling yourself,if anybody cheat or hurt me...I'm going
to get back at him,at all cost....your mind starts planning
of ways to get back at him.Evil and wicked thoughts flashes..
By doing that, nothing POSITIVE is going to happen. You are
just putting more stress on yourself.

WHY?

I think posting complaints here does serve a purpose of warning others
of a company that doesn't do its job. I'm sure those people who have
had bad experience with ARIS had complained to ARIS. But if those
complaints doesn't get them to pull up their socks, then others should
be warned about getting system from them. And maybe those companies
who disregard customers' rights to reasonable level of support and
quality will reap the result of what they have done : reduced sales.

Oh, you're going there yourself? I call that being realistic :-)

:

Oh nice, a flamewar, and so articulate and justified !!! NOT !

Actually Mr Soh, the problem seems to be with *your* newsreader, as the
original article as seen from here does not have the wrong address. The
address only appears in the attribution line added by *your
newsreader*. There is no mentioning of your name in the rest of the
headers. (If you want to verify that I suggest you telnet into
merlion and use tin to read the article by Jasen again).

It seems that either
- your setup of your newsreader is wrong
- your newsreader is buggy, appending your name and domain in
the attribution..

I think you should apologize to Jasen, as he has done nothing wrong,
so it was very ungraceful of you to assume he s doing something rong.

** "Never ascribe to malice that which can be adequately be explained by

If you want to blame someone, and you are sure that it's not a
misconfiguration by you, go and blame the manufacturer of your
software. But be a bit nicer this time

Have a nice day...

Mathias

Hi Roger,

:

: roge...@singnet.com.sg. :

:
:

You are mistaken. No one else has used your email address to send the
article below.

Let me explain.

If you look at the article below, you'll notice that the "From" field
says only "Jasen". This is the actual address that the sender "Jasen"
used when he posted his original article.

The newsreader you are using (Chameleon), tries to be "smart" each time
it receives a news posting which doesn't have a complete email address in
the header. What I mean by an incomplete email address is something like
"rogersoh". The complete email address would be "roge...@singnet.com.sg".
When your newsreader receives such an article, it will append your own
address to it as the domain name, thereby making the article, AS YOU
WOULD VIEW IT FROM YOUR PC, appear to be from <Ja...@rogersoh.singnet.com.sg>

If I were to read this same article from Jasen using a similar
newsreader on my PC, the article would appear to be from
<Ja...@lorna.singnet.com.sg>

Get it?

For the rest of you reading this who are also using Chameleon's
newsreader, please take note of this apparent bug in the software.

If you require further assistance, please email postm...@singnet.com.sg

Thank you,

Lorna

I think that you have hit the head with the right-sized nail. People must
learn not to unlean what they learnt throughout their lives. That is, be
gracious. Writing phrases and words that are vulgar will only stirr up
hot-belly reactions.

I hope we will not make this forum a crude one. Be nice. Be forceful. Be
pointed. Be fierce. Be insistent for an answer - but try not to start a
