Indian Companies Find Trading Partners Using Internet Site

Washington, D.C., May 29, 1997 - Over 30 Indian exporters and
manufacturers are using TradeSmart
(http://www.tradecompass.com/tradesmart), an Internet based service
providing instant access to information about all waterborne shipments
entering the United States. The information is used by the Indian
companies to identify new U.S. buyers for their product and to monitor the
sales of their competition.

TradeSmart is an online database of information gathered from over 20,000
bills of lading filed with U.S. Customs each day. Bills of lading provide
detailed information about a particular shipment to the U.S. including the
name and address of the U.S. buyer, the international supplier, a
description of the commodity purchased and how much was imported.
TradeSmart is searchable by product, company name, and country. Companies
pay per month for unlimited access to the database. Currently
TradeSmart only contains information about ocean imports to the United
States. A service providing information about air shipments to the U.S. is
planned for release later this summer.

TradeSmart is a service of Trade Compass, an internet site dedicated to
providing trade information via the Internet. It is the only Internet
service providing access to this data and is the hottest selling product
among Trade Compass 18 different products.
