PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
DECquery V2.5 for Windows, from Touch Technologies, Inc., provides
flexible access from a PC to the Oracle Rdb database and multiple
corporate database engines. A powerful interface simplifies access to
corporate data from the desktop and lets the user apply the data to
spreadsheets and other popular desktop applications. PC users can create
their own queries and reports without programming assistance or knowledge
of SQL.
New features are
o Deferred Query Client (DQC) - When used with the Deferred Query Server
for Oracle Rdb, allows users to submit queries for execution at a later
time
o User interface and data display improvements --Includes the addition of a
toolbar for the most commonly displayed functions, shortened response
time for data display after a query and enhanced Sum, Count, Average, and
Sort functions via the toolbar.
BENEFITS
o Provides easy access to Oracle Rdb, multiple PC database engines, and,
via Accessworks DB Integrator Gateways, other database engines, including
RMS, IBM VSAM, and IBM DB2
o Allows the creation of reusable queries for workgroups to streamline
recurring data compilation tasks
o Provides full utilization of Windows Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) for
calling DECquery software from within other applications
o Provides DDE "hot links" to automatically update PC-based spreadsheets
and other applications
AVAILABILITY AND ORDERING
DECquery V2.5 for Windows is available now. Beginning with this release,
DECquery will be sold with licenses from Touch Technologies only. New
part numbers have been assigned for V2.5. Users who currently have
DECquery for Windows licenses and wish to upgrade to V2.5 may do so by
buying the appropriate update license and/or update package. Digital will
continue to support users who currently hold service contracts.
