PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The AdvantageCluster Available Server (ACAS) 2105/250 system comes with
two Digital UNIX based AlphaServer 2100 5/250 RM (rackmount) systems in
one cabinet, and is ready for user-selected storage options.
Each AlphaServer 2100 5/250 RM system comes in a single-processor
configuration with
o 2-GB, RZ28 internal system disk
o 128 or 512 MB of memory
o Digital UNIX operating system
o DECsafe Available Server software (two licenses and documentation)
o NAS200 software package (includes Logical Storage Manager and POLYCENTER
Advanced File System utilities)
o Two KZPSA-BB Fast Wide Differential SCSI controllers
o SCSI cabling (host-end terminations for connection to first storage
option)
The ACAS 2105/250 will expand to up to four symmetric multiprocessing
(SMP) processors per node, and up to three shared SCSI buses with
KZPSA-BB controllers. Each shared SCSI bus can support up to five
3.5-inch narrow (8-bit) drives or up to five 3.5-inch wide (16-bit)
drives using DWZZA/DWZZB SCSI converters. To increase storage capacity,
users can choose the HSZ40 RAID array controller that provides
o Six fast, narrow single-ended channels
o Support for RAID levels 0, 1, 0+1, and 5
o Up to 42 drives in non-redundant configurations
o 36 drives in redundant configurations

SERVICES
The AdvantageCluster Available Server warranty includes three-year onsite
coverage on hardware, next-business-day response, and 90-day software
telephone advisory service. Standard Software Product Services (SPS) are
available for the DECsafe Available Server software and other layered
products for the ACAS 2105/250. Digital recommends that users purchase
Systems Integration consulting services.
o High Availability System Assessment -- Assesses user's need for disaster
tolerance and recovery by providing an understanding of the business,
configuration, and costs associated with implementing a high availability
system
o High Availability System Configuration Planning --Defines requirements,
configuration design, and support planning for a high availability system
o High Availability System Implementation -- Implements the high
availability system, including startup and backup procedures, and system
and network parameters
o DECsafe Application Scripting -- Develops the scripts needed to implement
application failover using DECsafe
