PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The DEC SNA Peer Server V1.3 provides a network connection between
Digital systems in a TCP/IP or DECnet environment and IBM systems in an
SNA environment. It is the newest member of Digital's family of IBM
Interconnect SNA Gateways.
The Peer Server can run either on a dedicated Digital UNIX server or in a
Digital UNIX timesharing environment on any supported Alpha system
running Digital UNIX, including version 3.2C. It also includes a tn3270
server, which provides tn3270 telnet access to the IBM system without
requiring TCP/IP on the IBM host.
Features
o Provides SNA connectivity via SDLC, Token Ring, X.25, Ethernet, and FDDI
when used with appropriate system and communications controllers
o Supports both TCP/IP and DECnet protocols from the Digital client systems
to the DEC SNA Peer Server
o Provides access to legacy applications and data while promoting the
migration to open systems and the transition to client/server solutions
o Can be used with CICS for Digital UNIX and Digital SNA APPC/LU6.2 for
Digital UNIX to develop cross-platform CICS transaction-processing
applications
o Supports a wide variety of access routines on Digital UNIX, OpenVMS
(DECnet), and Windows PCs

The DEC SNA Peer Server V1.3 is shipping now on the Digital CD-ROM
Software Library for Digital UNIX (QA-054-AA-H8). It is available
through Digital and its business partners.
