DESCRIPTION

In response to user and business partner feedback, Digital is replacing
its ADVANTAGE-UPGRADE program with a set of worldwide, consistent
business practices called TradeIn '96. TradeIn '96 is currently in effect
in Europe, and will be effective in the Americas and Asia/Pacific on
January 1, 1996. The old, fixed set of "from/to" paths and part numbers
is being replaced by a table of trade-in values for currently installed
equipment.

By eliminating the fixed "from/to" paths and part numbers, users can
upgrade their currently installed system to any system that meets their
exact needs and requirements. This process allows users to configure the
proper amount of memory, disk, and other options that they need. Users
can now also upgrade workstations to servers and servers to workstations,
whichever fits their computing requirements.

Users will receive the trade-in value for their used equipment, which
will be applied toward the purchase of a new VAX or Alpha configuration
that meets their specific needs. Some restrictions apply.

To provide for a smooth migration, users will be able to keep their
currently installed system for up to 60 days. If the system is not
returned after this time period, a non-return charge will be assessed.

AVAILABILITY AND ORDERING

With the implementation of the TradeIn '96 business practices, all
current ADVANTAGE-UPGRADE part numbers, with the exception of in-cabinet
upgrades, will be retired (see the Product and Service Retirements in
this issue of Customer Update).

TradeIn '96 will be applicable worldwide. Contact a Digital sales
representative or authorized Digital reseller for additional ordering
details.
