ChannelWorks Extended Ethernet LAN Connectivity

HIGHLIGHTS

o Provides extended Ethernet LAN connections over cable TV (CATV) up to 70
miles without disrupting existing CATV offerings, using unparalleled
frequency agility

o Complies with IEEE 802.3 Ethernet standards and is SNMP manageable

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The ChannelWorks product provides distributed, high speed, network
bandwidths for sites in metropolitan areas, using existing public cable
plants. It is a cost-effective alternative to existing and planned telephone
company offerings. Because the ChannelWorks product can be used on the full
spectrum of public CATV networks, channel assignments will accommodate
potential users in all metropolitan areas.

BENEFITS

At a fraction of the cost of today's point-to-point communications
solutions, this extended Ethernet LAN connectivity service incorporates the
ChannelWorks bridging technology, network planning, and network management
services along with a CATV infrastructure to offer you a true information
utility service.

The ChannelWorks product is based on existing standards, providing you with
investment protection and complementing Digital's other networking products.
The high speed, distributed network technology, combining SNMP network
management with easy configuration and maintenance, is familiar to most
network managers.

COMPARISON WITH OTHER VENDORS' PRODUCTS

As the following table indicates, ChannelWorks performance outpaces that of
competing products.

Digital 28 selectable TX channels 70 miles 10 Mb/s User-

The frequency agility is a key differentiator as it allows the CATV company
to slot data traffic where it wants and to avoid conflicts with its current
entertainment schedules.
