Mentec Assuming Responsibility for PDP-11 Software

AGREEMENT OVERVIEW
Mentec, Ltd, Digital's PDP-11 business partner in the United Kingdom for 15
years, has assumed full responsibility for the continued development and
maintenance of PDP-11 software. The agreement will be implemented in the
U.S. by Mentec, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Mentec, Ltd. The
agreement is in effect now; transition of products to Mentec will be
completed by the end of this June.
The following set of PDP-11 software has been transferred to Mentec, along
with necessary rights and requirements to make certain of a transition that
you will find transparent:
o PDP-11 operating systems
- RSX-11M, RSX-11M-PLUS, Micro/RSX, RT-11, RSX-11S, and RSTS/E.
o PDP-11 layered products
- PDP-11 BASIC-PLUS-2 for RSTS/E, RSX-11M, and RSX-11M-PLUS.
- PDP-11 C for RSX-11M, RSX-11M-PLUS, RSTS/E, and RT-11; Micro/RSX PDP-11
C.
- PDP-11 FORTRAN-77/RSX, PDP-11 FORTRAN-77/RT-11, and Micro/RSX
FORTRAN-77.
- DATATRIEVE-11, FMS-11/RSX, and PDP-11 Sort/Merge.
- PDP-11 Symbolic Debugger/RSX, Micro/RSX Symbolic Debug, and VAX-11/RSX.
o PDP-11 networking products
- DECnet-11M+, DECnet-11M, DECnet-11S, DECnet-Micro/RSX, and DECnet/E.
Mentec will continue to offer the products under the current product names.
Digital, as a Mentec distributor, will sell and distribute Mentec's products
under the current order numbers at the current prices. Digital will also
continue to be the service provider, in partnership with Mentec, for the
PDP-11 software products. Current PDP-11 software service contracts are
unaffected by this transfer.
The partnership with Mentec, an active and committed vendor in the PDP-11
community, reinforces Digital's intention to address the ongoing needs of
PDP-11 users. Mentec is well positioned to respond to these needs today and
in the future.
