When I boot up my Windows 2000 Professional, it boots to a clean Windows
screen. They only way I can get my desktop is to go to task manager, go to
run, and browse to an explorer.lnk. I have searched the register for any
entries concerning desktop, but none made any sense as I read English not
numbers. I also checked out desktop.ini files on my system with not luck.
Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you

HI Richard
The problem you are facing is due to multiple profiles being created
on your machine, this is one of the damages caused by Virus like
Nimda, and the like.
please ensure that you have a good Anti Virus programme installed on
your machie, in case u r logging in the DOMAIN then u will see that
one of the profiles under your name is more in size ( say several
hundreds of KBs or MBs in case uhave been using your comp for long).
delete all the rest profiles , log in once and in case it still creats
a new profile for you then simple interchange the names of the two
profiles and the work around shud work for good
