Hi all,
I'm putting together a website that promotes free computing and free
software packages over comercial alternatives. Basically i'm after other
peoples experiences (i'm sure i'm not the only one that uses free
software). So come along and submit your favourite free software package
(you can even write a review)

by free i mean no adware, no shareware, really free

the site is freecomputing.chuckles34.net

Cheers

Hey, I'm sure that you already know of this one, but I am the Network
Administrator for my company and we have started using Open Office on
all of the normal PC's. I have installed it on about fifty PC's and it
works good for every day type work. The only thing that you have to
adjust is under Tools-Options-Load and Save-General change the
defaults to microsoft9x\2000 files. This is good to just clear up any
confusion with users.

A couple of years ago, I had a file that was over 1.44 kb. With the
help of my instructor, we found a file splitter that actually worked.
Now, this was before the time of CD-RW or Zip Drives. I tried to find
that specific splitter, HJSPLIT, but had no luck. with this URL,
http://www.tucows.com/system/filesplit95.html, there are several that
sound just great and some are Freeware. If you are ever stuck without
a CD-RW or Zip Disk, here is the answer.
Good Luck ; Ð

A good program I use for file splitting is
Accusplit(http://members.cox.net/AccuSplit_support/Index.htm), and you can
select a type of recordable media (CD, floppy, ZIP) and it will
automatically split your file to that size. I've never had problems with it
rebuilding files either.
