Right now I engage in ENTIRELY TOO MUCH re-entering of data.
I have to log in and print out the order information entered
by my
customers on my site....
....then I have to RE-ENTER this information into
Quickbooks......then I
have to RE-ENTER this information into my IC-Verify software
to process the
credit card.......THEN....I have to RE-ENTER the same
information into my
Stamps.com/UPS/etc. software to print out shipping labels. I
haven't even
gone into having to export customer information to send out
mailers,
brochures, letters etc.
This is friggin' ridiculous!
Processing an order takes way too long and there is NO WAY I
can continue
running my business in this manner. Something has got to
change.
Generally, this is what I need.
Accounting software. Product database. Customer database.
E-commerce
storefront w/ automatic credit card processing/verification.
Shipping
software.
I need all of these to work seamlessly together in real time
(almost). (I'm
sure many of you are laughing right now saying ".sure buddy,
don't we all")
The site's catalog pages need to be created dynamically from
templates with
information pulled from the product database (images,
quantity, price,
weight, etc.)
The shopping cart/ordering process needs to interact with
the customer and
product database as well as the accounting software.
Customer places order. Credit card is verified. Sale is
automatically
entered into accounting ledger. Pull slips, packing/Invoice
slip and
shipping labels are printed and order is ready to be pulled,
packed and
shipped.
I'm sure there is a 2-7 million dollar "solution" out there
somewhere, but
I need something a little more reasonably priced. I'm sure
there are
hundreds of thousands of people out there like me with a
small business that
need something like this as well.
Is there a "One Box" solution for my needs? I'd sure like to
know what it
is.
For you folks that are more technically inclined, what would
be the easiest
way to achieve this "solution"? The more experience I have
with computers
the more I believe in an "Open" solution. I want all of my
data to be
accessible with additional applications if needed.
Maybe if all of these big shot VC companies would spend a
little less money
on $500,000.00 cocktail parties and a little more on
developing software
that business' in the real world actually need.
