What is the ClariNet e.News?

The ClariNet e.News is an electronic newspaper: professional news and
information delivered to your computer in the Usenet news format. Your
site receives live news (including technology-related wire stories),
timely computer industry news, syndicated columns and features,
financial information, stock quotes and more.

What does the e.News include?

* Global and U.S. News: The ClariNet e.News includes news, sports
and features from the wire services of Reuters and the Associated
Press. It covers U.S. and international news events, as well as a
number of standing features including columns on politics,
entertainment and consumer products; reviews of books, movies, and
videos; "Today in History;" and much more. There are also regular
news summaries of the day's events.

* Business News : The ClariNet e.News also includes business and
financial stories on all topics: economic indicators, corporate
news, regular stock market reports from around the world, legal
issues affecting business, government information, commodity
reports and much more. The e.News features coverage from the
Reuters North American, European and Asian Business Reports _ the
world's most respected international business information source.
It also carries press releases from BizWire _ the premier
distribution channel for companies releasing information to the
public.

* Techwire, the science and technology section of the e.News,
consists of specific categories for stories on science and
technology and the industries around them: computers, electronics,
health issues, space, telecommunications, education, AIDS and
more.

* Computer Industry: Techwire also includes news from Newsbytes, a
daily computer industry newsmagazine. Available on your computer
well before the weeklies can be on your desk, Newsbytes covers the
computer industry, telecommunications, trends, legal issues,
reviews of new products and corporate news, and also specifically
addresses news on products that work with Apple, PC-compatible,
and Unix computers, and telecommunications products.

* Internet/Online News: In addition to coverage of the Internet and
online worlds from the AP, Reuters, and Newsbytes, the e.News also
includes Matrix News, a monthly journal of the Internet and other
worldwide computer networks.

* Sports: The e.News carries sports news from SportsTicker, the
leading source of instant sports information. The e.News has
extremely detailed coverage of major leagues in football,
baseball, basketball, hockey, golf, and tennis; but it also
includes coverage of the CFL, minor league baseball, hockey, and
basketball, and sports such as motor racing, horse racing, boxing,
and soccer.

* Syndicated Features: The e.News includes the finest in columns and
features: the advice of Miss Manners, articles from the
science-humor journal Annals of Improbable Research and the
writing of Joe Bob Briggs, drive-in movie critic of Grapevine,
Texas. Editorial cartoons from around the world are featured, as
are comic strips such as Doonesbury, For Better or For Worse, Fox
Trot, and Café Angst.

* The Commerce Business Daily is the daily report on U.S. Government
procurement. Those involved in government business will find this
information invaluable.

Can I see what it looks like? How about a free trial?

Selected articles are posted to the Usenet newsgroup
"biz.clarinet.sample," and are also available by request. We would
be happy to send you specific samples in subjects of your choice.

But samples can't show you the full utility of the e.News. We'll be
glad to give you a free two-week trial of the e.News with no
obligation.

Why is the e.News better than traditional media?

ClariNet combines the in-depth coverage of print media with the speed
of broadcast media to give you the best of both worlds. With the
e.News, you can harness the power of your computer to find the news
you want on the subjects you want. In addition, most U.S. media limit
their international coverage for reasons of space and time, but the
wires actually report far more than what you see. The e.News brings
you what you want, when you want it.

Why is the e.News better than other electronic news services?

Other on-line services store the news on a computer at their site. The
e.News sends all the news to you automatically. When you want to read
the news, it's already on your computer. You don't have to wait for it
to be transferred to you through a modem. You don't have to pay per
minute to read the news. Instead, you and everyone at your site can
read all the news you want for one low monthly fee.

ClariNet gives all the news to all the people at your site. Each
person is kept in touch with the absolutely latest news on the things
that matter to them and your organization.

What do I need to read the e.News?

The e.News comes as a Usenet style newsfeed. If you, or your site, are
able to receive a Usenet style newsfeed, you can receive the e.News.
It's that simple. If your site does not currently receive Usenet style
news, we can help you set this up. There are no charges involved and
the software is free.

There are no specific hardware requirements, though the most advanced
Usenet software is commonly found on Unix-based machines. A full
e.News feed is approximately 6 megabytes per day.

How do I subscribe?
