My wife has an Amazon gift card in her iPhone's Wallet. Actually it looks like the same gift card for $15 duplicated so we see it twice. She opened Safari on her Mac to buy stuff. We tried to copy the claim code to where Amazon wants a gift card, but it wouldn't fit. (I couldn't figure out how to cut and paste it, if Wallet was on her iPad, we could).

I was having the same issue, although my amazon gift card was only $5 and it wasn't duplicated but i also got the gift card from a survey and had added it to my apple wallet without redeeming it on amazon first. The long code that was under the 'Gift Card Claim Code:' when i double clicked the power button was not right and wouldn't work.

How i was able to redeem my gift card on the Amazon app (will most likely work on the website as well) was i luckily still had the email from when i finished the survey and got my gift card so i looked it up in my email (i just searched Amazon and it popped up) and i got the actual code by clicking the 'View Gift Card' button and following the link to the website.

An actual gift card would not be usable from the Wallet App. Amazon does not support Apple Pay, and there would be no way to select it to pay, and its unlikely to be able to be used through Apple pay in other stores or websites.

I tried double-clicking the iPhone's sleep/wake button and was able to select it. So I guess I can buy $15 items with it at a store. A while ago I tried to use Apple Pay on Amazon and determined that Amazon didn't support Apple Pay, so I infer that this Amazon gift card will have to be used for something other than Amazon. (unless I go to a brick and mortar Amazon store).

Correct. Try it out at a store and see what happens. By your description its probably a pre-paid card with the Amazon logo. So can be used as regular debit card as shown in the link above, or through Apple Pay at stores or websites that support it.

I opened her Starbucks app and tried to use that card to add to her account. When I pulled it up, double-tapping didn't work. But I'd rather see if it was available from Safari. I recently subscribed to a channel and noticed the feature to subscribe via Amazon, I was disappointed and ended up going back to using PayPal. Amazon Payments are okay, but it would be nice to have a feature that enables you to subscribe to the selected channel / channels still using Amazon but using your Amazon GC balance (Gift Card). This may not work for a reoccurring subscription but could work well for one time sub or the 3/6 month subscription option (depending on GC balance at the time of purchase). Or purchasing subscriptions via the Amazon website.

Following that, using a Amazon GC to subscribe direct. For example I receive a $20 GC, if this was possible you could enter the gift card code, and it would automatically deduct the $4.99 from the card. From this I could go to the Amazon website and enter the GC code and have the remaining balance added to my Amazon account or alternatively keep the card and use it again to re subscribe / subscribe. Amazon gift cards currently have a expiration of 10 years so that would not be an issue.
