Hi all,

I am giving a small talk tomorrow on Machine Learning & Education wherein I intend to discuss some ideas on how ML is going to (/or already has) revolutionize(d) different aspects of education and learning (o a very broad scale).

I was wondering if any of you have some interesting links, articles, etc which you would be willing to share. This would help me mine the web for related articles in a better way. Thanks.

Cheers,
Rishabh.

This might help, if you don't know about it already. :-)

Thanks Shoo & Raj for the links.

I was thinking of focusing the talk on Adaptive Learning and how ML can play a big role here. Ideally, I would want the audience to be convinced that ML is the thing if they are thinking of diving into this segment.

I know of a UCI based startup which aims to develop a recommendation engine for education:
  • continuously adaptive learning
  • smarter recommendations
  • Knowledge Graph
  • mapping concepts
  • smarter recommendations, etc.
Other suggestions on MOOCs or anything I might have missed are welcome. :-)

Raj: Simulations & serious games are at the heart of e-learning now and POMDPs link well (not too sure) with modeling player behavior during simulations. Thanks. :)

Regards,
Rishabh.

Shreya,
The Gnowledge project is really cool: the very essence of collaborative learning with people posting pre-requisites etc should come in very handy. I had a look at Prof. Nagarjuna's website, pretty useful pointers concerning knowledge-networks there.

Thanks for the links, really useful. :)

Cheers,
Rishabh.

Hi

I think you are looking for something like this -
Prof. G Nagarjuna, TIFR has given many guest lectures on precisely this topic. In fact that is the center where people do research on how to impart education. http://www.hbcse.tifr.res.in/ is the home page.

Gnowledge Lab, HBCSE, was my ps1 station. Though not very relevant, it might interest you to know that MIT is collaborating with GLab for olpc (one laptop per child) project in India.

Some projects involving ml and education are taken up at Glab by the MCA interns.

In case someone is looking for a collaboration, let me know; I'll forward a contact.

Thanks!
