Congrats Everyone !

It's good that all got graduated with a MS from BITS.

As all might be aware, that the MS (CM) starting this year, has been changed to MBA (CS).
Just out of curiosity, would like to know what are everyone's thoughts on it -
Does MBA from BITS will hold more value or the MS in CM. Since consultancy being a mgmt course raises this question of being in the cadre of MS, which spells more inclined towards technical.

Thanks & Regards,

Hi,
Congratulations to all of us.

MBA is a post graduate degree and MS is equalent to Mphil which a step further from PG. You can go for direct PhD with MS but not with MBA in various universities.

It is better to have MS degree if one want to go for PhD.

Take care,
Aarti

BITS degree is a regular. Our MS is counted as regular degree. I have confirmed from Distance Education Council. They have got no registration for BITS so its a regular degree. About PhD it is part time. I am not sure how its assessed.

Hi Everyone,

First of all congratulations to all...so...at last our journey has come to a meaningful conclusion....I have best memories of our classes and exams...

So much discussion going around on recognition, I was just browsing for the recognition of MS course by BITS and stumbled upon this Madras High Court judgement in 2005 where Petitioners, numbering 68, are all B.E/B.Tech. graduates and are all working as Lecturers in various colleges and with permission from their respective college they joined the M.S. Degree Course ( Computer Science, Electronics Control etc., systems and Information, Software System and Technological Operations) by distance education system of the BITS, Pilani (Rajasthan) and have completed the course also and when it came to the matter of recognition, the Director of Technical Education has informed the petitioners that the M.S. Degree awarded by BITS, Pilani through correspondence programme is not considered as equivalent degree to that of M.E. Degree awarded by the Tamil Nadu Universities. Challenging the said order, the present writ petition was filed.

So the conclusion of judgement is as follows:

"It is relevant to mention that no University or 'Deemed University' or its graduates could compel or demand any other university to recognise the degrees of other universities. It aptly applies to the petitioners as well and therefore no mention need be necessary that the petitioners have no case to offer. Hence the above writ petition becomes only liable to be dismissed."

One high court judgement applies to all states in India so this matter is not confined to Tamil Nadu only.

I am not being negative but lets not just assume anything. All the documents which BITS sent to us are also quoted in the judgement but they amount to nothing significant. My humble advice is please be careful and clarify with the respective university when you are applying for Ph.D. Every university has its discretion to give you admission or reject your application. Choice is theirs.

My understanding is some universities will accept, some may not. Let's move on. Anyway we know this is not IIT/IIM. What we have got is more then sufficient enough considering efforts and time spent along with regular work.

I am planning for PhD now. Let me know if anyone also applying or planning. Let's plan together to save efforts. Please communicate me individually who so ever willing to step up to PhD. I will create a group for PhD.
