Limit on number of semester you can DROP

Is there any limit upon number of consecutive semester you can drop.

I have completed 3 semester and my final dissertation is pending. Currently i have dropped Dissertation for two consecutive semesters. Can I drop it for the third time ?

Any help on this ?
