I always thought hydro jetting was something people only do when there’s already a major blockage, but recently I’ve heard it mentioned as preventative maintenance too. Does it actually make sense to do it before problems get bad?

That confused me too because most people only talk about drain cleaning once something backs up. But a lot of maintenance advice seems to focus on preventing buildup before it turns into a bigger issue.

I used to assume snaking was enough for most situations, but while looking into recurring drain problems, hydro jetting near me came up in the middle of a discussion about deeper cleaning methods and it changed how I looked at it. What made sense was the idea that hydro jetting is not just for emergencies — it can help clear grease, residue and buildup that basic methods may leave behind. That made it sound less like an extreme option and more like part of long-term maintenance, especially if the same drain issues keep returning.
