Advanced Hands-On Robotics Workshop

I am Rasna Goenka, member of Kharagpur RoboSoccer Students Group. We are a robotics research group under the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, IIT Kharagpur. We organize RoboCup Challenge @ India (www.robocup.in), a premier RoboSoccer event affiliated to the International RoboCup Federation (www.robocup.org). As a part of our projects we are currently engaged in the following:
· Small Sized Robot League, RoboCupSoccer – The first RoboSoccer team from India in RoboCup.
· FIRA RoboSoccer Team – The only Indian team participating in FIRA Robot World Cup 2010.
· DRDO Student Robot Competition 2010 – Winners at stage 1. The competition aims at designing an Autonomous Ground Vehicle for low intensity conflict.
As our initiative to promote robotics culture across colleges in India we have collaborated with Robosoft Systems (www.robosoftsystems.co.in) to organize hands-on workshops on swarm robotics covering a range of topics like basics of autonomous and mechanical robotics, AVR Programming, grid navigation, wireless communication between robots,and several useful tips and tricks regarding day-to-day robot making. At the end of the workshop each team of participants shall have a working kit (provided by us) with a controller board, sensors, communication modules, AVR programmer and Chassis. The workshops are aimed at enabling the participants to deliver in the wide domain of robotics and wireless communication. The content of the workshops have also been created keeping in mind the events The Fugitives, Robotix, Kshitij, IIT Kharagpur (www.robotix.in/events/the_fugitives) and Nexus, Techfest, IIT Bombay (www.techfest.org/initiatives/world_challenge/nexus/navigate) both among the largest robotics competitions in India.After these workshops the participants will have working bot to participate in both these events.
