Here are your updates for the coming week.
Bitney Prep Information Night - Thursday, January 30, 2025 - 5:30 pm
We are in the middle of the recruitment season for next year’s 9th-grade class. Tori Harris and her team of student ambassadors are busy visiting all of the middle school programs in Nevada County. We have three information nights scheduled. The first Info Night is this Thursday, January 30th from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. One of the most important ways that we recruit new students to our school is through word of mouth. If you know any families with current 8th-grades who might be interested in coming to Bitney Prep next year, please invite them and their parents to join us this Thursday.
Bitney Prep is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Our accreditation establishes our school with other high schools and colleges. This year, we are having an accreditation visit from a WASC Visiting Committee in early April. WASC will use the visit to determine our accreditation status. We are preparing the Self Study that we need to turn in to our visiting committee before our visit. As a part of the self-study, we are gathering information from students, staff, and parents/guardians. Information from these main stakeholders in our school is important to the self-study process. The title above in blue is a link to the survey. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and submit your answers. The survey is anonymous.
First Period Tardiness
We often have a significant number of students who arrive late for the beginning of the school day. It is not unusual for us to have ten to fifteen students come in late. It disrupts teaching and learning when students come into the classroom after the lesson starts. This is especially true when several students arrive late to a class at different times. Our tardy policy states that after three tardies students will receive a detention for being late to first period. Please work with your students to help them arrive at school on time.
As always,
Please contact us at school if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
