Toensure all articles meet the trusted and respected high standards of IEEE publications they undergo a rigorous peer review process to assess the originality and technical correctness of the article IEEE Access has an average acceptance rate of 27 comparable to other top IEEE journals
All published IEEE Access articles have usage and citation information available to readers The usage includes PDF downloads and HTML views and is updated on a monthly basis Usage is broken down into overall usage and by month/year Citations are also available for each published article
IEEE Access accepts multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary articles covering all IEEE fields of interest The journal is ideal for articles that do not fit neatly in traditional journals while having the prestige of being published by the IEEE
Authors using government research funding or university consortium funding may be required to publish in OA journals IEEE Access offers these authors a broadscoped alternative to the more narrowly focused IEEE fully Open Access topical journals
IEEE Access encourages submission of video to be published with the article on IEEE Xplore Video can be a great tool to enhance and promote your article Videos may be simulations demonstrations interviews with experts or a presentation of the technology Video must be sent to peer review with your manuscript for evaluation For more information on video integration please visit our FAQ
Share your thoughts and questions on articles through the commenting feature on IEEE Access the only IEEE journal to offer this feature Users may post comments questions videos images or links to other published articles Comments are moderated for appropriateness
Entrant must submit a video with an article submission to IEEE Access. The video submission must clearly be relevant to the submitted manuscript. Only videos that accompany an article that is accepted for publication in IEEE Access will qualify. The video may be simulations, demonstrations, or interviews with other experts, for example. Your video file should not exceed 100 MB.
Entrants who have already submitted a manuscript to IEEE Access without a video can still submit a video for inclusion in this Award so long as the video is submitted within 7 days of the article submission date. The video can be submitted via email to the article administrator. All videos must undergo peer review and be accepted along with the article submission. Videos may not be submitted after an article has already been accepted for publication.
The prize(s) for the Award are being sponsored by IEEE. No cash in lieu of prize or substitution of prize permitted, except that Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize or prize component of equal or greater value in its sole discretion for any reason at time of award. Sponsor shall not be responsible for service obligations or warranty (if any) in relation to the prize(s). Prize may not be transferred prior to award. All other expenses associated with use of the prize, including, but not limited to local, state, or federal taxes on the Prize, are the sole responsibility of the winner. Winner(s) understand that delivery of a prize may be void where prohibited by law and agrees that Sponsor shall have no obligation to substitute an alternate prize when so prohibited. Amazon is not a sponsor or affiliated with this Award.
Upon selecting a winner, the Sponsor will notify the winner via email. All potential winners will be notified via their email provided to the sponsor. Potential winners will have five (5) business days to respond after receiving initial prize notification or the prize may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner. Potential winners may be required to sign an affidavit of eligibility, a liability release, and a publicity release. If requested, these documents must be completed, signed, and returned within ten (10) business days from the date of issuance or the prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to an alternate winner. If prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable or in the event of noncompliance with these Official Rules, prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to an alternate winner.
The Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is a professional organization supporting many branches of engineering, computer science, and information technology. In addition to publishing journals, magazines, and conference proceedings, IEEE also makes many standards for a wide variety of industries.
IEEE citation style includes in-text citations, numbered in square brackets, which refer to the full citation listed in the reference list at the end of the paper. The reference list is organized numerically, not alphabetically. For examples, see the IEEE Editorial Style Manual.
In-text Citing It is not necessary to mention an author's name, pages used, or date of publication in the in-text citation. Instead, refer to the source with a number in a square bracket, e.g. [1], that will then correspond to the full citation in your reference list.
Creating a Reference List The Reference List appears at the end of your paper and provides the full citations for all the references you have used. List all references numerically in the order they've been cited within the paper, and include the bracketed number at the beginning of each reference.

I found some other papers with short code snippets, and it looks like they just used Courier New for the font, but I'm not sure of the font size. Do I need to include line numbers? I haven't found any with long sections of code (so for something with 4 lines I wouldn't expect line numbers anyways).
The IEEE does not generally have any strict guidelines on how to format code for papers in their journals or conferences, so you have some freedom of choice in how you do so. The general guideline is simply to use a monospace font and formatting choices that are not blatantly incompatible with the rest of the paper.
Now, if you are writing for IEEE, you should probably be using LaTeX. This means that there are a number of excellent packages, such as these, that will format your code in a nice and professional manner that is generally quite familiar to IEEE reviewers and editors. If you pick one and use that, you should not expect any problems.
Word's style definitions are really useful in situations like this. As long as everyone is using Word 2007+, one person could set up what code ought to look like (e.g., +1 left indent, +1 right indent, Courier New, single space, do not spell check, etc.) and save it as "CodeSnippet" or a similar style by highlighting some of the text, right clicking, and looking under the "Style" sub-menu for "Save selection as new Quick Style." Saving it to that document (rather than a template) will at least keep a consistent code style in everyone's document. It's also a little easier to go back and "clean up" someone else's code later (highlight it, click the code style in the Quick Styles bar) or modify the style rules for all instances of code later on in revision.
One caveat: aside from the style definitions common to all general use word processors (like blue-text + underline "HTML Link" style), I've never seen user-defined styles make the jump between Word and anything else (or vice versa).
Author-created PDF preprints must be Xplore compliant in order to be posted. IEEE has released a series of digital tools (including IEEE PDF Checker) for authors to check their PDFs for Xplore compliance.
Manuscripts can be submitted as regular papers, review papers, or communications. To qualify for publication, these must be previously unpublished and not be under consideration elsewhere. The manuscript will be evaluated under the category it has been submitted (e.g., a regular paper will be accepted or rejected, but not moved during the review from regular paper to review paper).
The Editor-in-Chief and the Associate Editor in charge will perform a quick review of the manuscript to propose a change in category and to evaluate the manuscript in terms of novelty, quality and appropriateness and reject the manuscript if pitfalls exist.
Manuscripts will ONLY be accepted in electronic format through a web-based system called IEEE Author Portal. Please go to IEEE Author Portal or to the EMBS website to find instructions on how to create an account and electronically submit your manuscript.
Do not send original submissions or revisions directly to the Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editors. If you are unable to submit your contribution electronically, please contact the Editorial Office at
jbhi-...@ieee.org.
Any questions from authors about the peer review process should be directed to the Editor in Chief (
foti...@uoi.gr) or the Editorial Office (
jbhi-...@embs.org). Direct communication among the authors and Associate Editors or Guest Editors is NOT allowed. For more information please visit the following link:
