The only other way I can see using this to get recipes is to copy
paste something then turn it into a QR or xml file. I also read the
page with downloading xml or mime files (which I really don't know
what they are files) how do you know if a site has those types of
files? I have not really seen anything yet where you can download a
file, most cooking sites seem to have their own "recipe box".
How to download a recipe

One 3rd party site that I know of that uses these files is
http://www.net-cookbook.com/
To load a recipe file you can click on a link to a recipe.xml from
your phone browser, or alternatively you can scan a qr code that
points to a recipe.xml file. The qr code method does exactly the same
thing, the url is just provided by the qr code rather than by you
typing it into your phone browser.
If you have your own recipes that you want to add to Bites the easiest
way is to download a recipe file from somewhere (start with www.net-cookbook.com)
and modify it. You can then email your changed recipe file as an
attachment to the gmail address you use on your phone. When you open
this attachment on your phone the recipe will be added to Bites.
I hope this is clear. If you have any further questions don't hesitate
to ask them here.
