All,

We have released BitCurator 5.1.0, which includes several additional tools, bugfixes, and optimizations. We have also released a new version of the BitCurator CLI installer (3.0.0) that reduces the size of the binary and removes support for Ubuntu 20.04. The new installer also adds a "results" option (detailed in the bitcurator-salt README) that simplifies identifying and reporting errors.

If you have an current install of BitCurator 5.0.0 on Ubuntu 24.04LTS or 22.04LTS, you can use the existing installer on your system to upgrade to BitCurator 5.1.0, or replace the installer prior to upgrading by following just the updated "Download the BitCurator CLI" instructions in the bitcurator-salt repository README.

Updates in BitCurator 5.1.0:

- Added JHOVE (GUI and CLI) tools, available in the Additional Tools menu
- Temurin JDK 21 replaces OpenJDK 8 for improved compatibility with modern Java tools
- Added dvdisaster tool, dvdisaster and xorriso now available in Imaging and Recovery menu
- Added lightgrep 1.5.0, now available in Forensics and Reporting menu
- Installation fix for python-evtx
- Packaging improvements for included python tools
- Support logic for Ubuntu 20.04LTS removed
- Documentation links fixed in menu items
