Bulk Extractor GUI not starting

Hello,

We have BitCurator installed on a native Ubuntu machine.  When we select Bulk Extractor from the menu, it doesn't start. Is there a preliminary step we are missing?

Hi Kari,

The bulk_extractor GUI was removed by the developer starting with the 2.0.0 release back in 2022. In current version of BitCurator, the bulk_extractor menu item should open the help for bulk_extractor CLI in a new terminal window. If *that* is not happening, there could be something wrong with your installation. What version of Ubuntu are you using? What release of BitCurator do you have installed? If you open a terminal and type "bulk_extractor", what happens?
