Of late, MARA pool has been rolling the Version field of the coinbase transaction for greater work disambiguation, a very relevant consideration for large pools of hash rate. (i.e. https://mempool.space/tx/fabb2fd523b57152d2c3176e8b8526dd8fad843c778129c7c1af4293bbd125e3 is version 1,973,324,765

Consensus-wise (in my findings), this field only needs to be larger than 2 to signal BIP68 enforcement. (https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/bf75c9964fb28a5e9b8a07097248ffa960738478/src/consensus/tx_verify.cpp#L51)

Hi,

BIP68 relative timelocks are not enforced on coinbase transactions. The function you link to is never called on the coinbase transaction.
