Hello All,

I have application in C# which uploads photos and videos to various online services like Flickr, SmugMug,Dropbox,Box etc. Here I use OAuth to authenticate user with their Flickr or Box account and once connected they can upload photos/videos to their respective account.

So far from what I have read about CloudFS, I get is, it lets you create your own Cloud and your users can send their data into that Cloud, am I right? If so, will I have to manage their login id and password, how I am going to authenticate user to this? Can they use their already existing bitcasa account? Sorry if the question seems naive, I am new to developing in this concept so I am just trying to get my doubts cleared.

Is it possible to let my users upload their pics and videos to their respective Bitcasa accounts through my App as I am doing with other services?
Any help or pointers will be highly appreciated.

Hello Prerana,

Those are really good questions! Thanks for asking them here.

CloudFS is more like Amazon AWS, where the storage runs "behind the scenes" to the end user, meaning that the developer owns the storage and manages user credentials (login / password). This is for developers who want to be able to offer their own integrated storage, and perhaps even monetize it with their own end users.

CloudFS is probably a different use case than just connecting a user's Flickr/Dropbox/Box/Bitcasa account to an application via OAuth. We are no longer supporting the OAuth API connection model to our consumer storage offering.

For the specifics on authentication, check out our docs here: https://bitcasa.com/cloudfs/docs

If you need help from the Bitcasa team to brainstorm ideas for incorporating CloudFS, we can definitely help you find more resources to talk to.

Cheers!

Thanks a ton for the response. It definitely cleared my doubts!. I will brainstorm on this a bit more and let me see how to use this in my application. Thanks again..:)
