Dear members,

Does anyone know an american law firm which has an IP or IT department
which would accept a foreign postgraduate student for an internship or
traineeship?

I am currently enrolled in Professor A. Lucas "DEA de propriete
intellectuelle" master in intellectual property law in Nantes
(France-Loire Valley). I studied english and american intellectual
property law last year at Cardiff law school and did placement in city
law firms in 1996 and 1997. I am particularly working on the copyrights
issues raised by the internet.

I intend to do a an LLM in the US next year (1998/1999). Does anyone
have addresses of american universities?

Much thanks for answering me.

You can find all the major U.S. law schools in the internet. Just try
Yahoo for example and search for U.S.law schools.

You will find their addresses and programs there.

Good luck

UCLA School of Law has an excellent LL.M. program, for foreign lawyers
(10-12 students a year) The school curriculum includes a list of courses
on IP law and entertainment law. See at <http://www.law.ucla.edu> and
the UCLA online institute for internet law and policy

<http://www.gse.ucla.edu/iclp/hp.html>

For info on the program, email L...@law.ucla.edu

For other cyberlaw courses in the US see

<http://www.jmls.edu/cyber/others.html>

Although some of the universities listed might not offer an LLM.

Good luck!!

Santa Clara University has an LL.M. designed for non-US attorneys, run
by its Institute of International and Comparative Law. It's
described at <http://www.scu.edu/law/Academic/html/llm.html>.

Santa Clara also has an outstanding IP program, worth considering since
that's your area of interest. Its faculty includes Professor Don Chisum,
who is the leading authority on U.S. patent law.
