I am wondering to how many people have you responded in the recent past
reiterating that you would not get caught up with the things they had to
say.

When I wrote my message I was hoping you would gather that I was refering
to Z.

And what I wanted to initiate a discussion about was communication between
cultures. I am interested in the distance that language creates.

For example, your response to my message - the way it was written, indicated
something about your intention. There may not have been any intention at all,
but it does carry some indication of the being that is John Morris, or the state
of his being at that time. I am not suggesting any ulterior motives or deep
intentions, just the state of mind during a communication, and what that it
carries through.

I think this is an excellent service to initiate this kind of discussion.
I hope to go through this everyday event thoroughly, for I think it is where
several obstructions to cultivation of positive culture begin.

First, I truely apreciate your considered response. I sometimes respond with
a bit of a volatile 'face'.
The Z! is the only one I hate to get sucked up by.
Z! (yes you Zahir) is a bright guy (assumption?) and I only object to the
excessive single focus of his posts.

Extend this please to the distance the culture imposes on the language in the
sense that a language can be considered somewhat neutral but the tone and the
aassumptions made with regard to the listner color the speech.
ie. culture 'A' may be generally more passive and will speak only after giving
due consideration to all aspects of what they would say.
Culture 'B' is a shoot first sort them out later style.
Same language possibly but different impact.

yes, this is what I meant by the culture imposing a color on the conversation.
This coloring occurs at both ends of the conversation.

i agree - if you mean the internet. the partial isolation forces a review of
assumptions with regard to communication.

Go for it, I will follow your lead. Spirited discussions!
Yea!
