When I write a letter in WPWIN 6.0, I get tired of unloading
the paper, resetting the paper guide, and loading
envelopes--and then having to reverse the procedure--just to
print the envelope using the envelope button.
I discovered a simple way to print one envelope. Just take
the envelope, place its flap over the left edge of an
8-1/2 x 11 standard piece of paper, slip it up so its right
edge is aligned with the top of the paper, and secure the
flap on the back of the paper with a little piece of
_removable_ transparent tape. Load this sheet on top of the
paper in your tray with the envelope facing down against the
right side of the the paper tray. Then use the envelope
feature to print. The paper secures the envelope as it goes
through the printer and you don't have to hassle with
unloading paper and loading envelopes.
I assume this trick will work with other HP DeskJets that
print envelopes in landscape mode.

Thanks for the advice. But, anyone using a laser printer should be careful.
I don't have proof, but I have heard that tape and labels not specifically made
for a laser printer could damage it.
I'm looking for a printer for home. What is a HP 550 and about how expensive
is it?

David,
Paper Direct and (I think) Avery have envelope/letter-size paper
sets that are connected so when you print the letter, you are printing the
envelope as well. They're a litte pricey, but will save you a lot of time.
By the by, If you have a strong stomach, you will be able to see a
picture of yours truly in one of Paper Direct's catalogs, maybe before the
end of the year. Talk about junk mail!

I've never had any trouble having anything jam in my HP-550C except when the
weather is very humid. I reuse the backs of paper from work, use cheapest
paper I can buy, use labels (Avery, etc.), use envelopes, etc. However,
HP-550C is not a laser printer but is a deskjet printer.
