zVSE Usage Based Pricing

Is anyone taking advantage of zVSE's usage based pricing?

Is there some kind of chart that indicates how much you can save by utilization percentage (50% 60% 70%)?

Can you take advantage of usage based pricing if you are running CICS 2.3 on your zVSE system or do you have to be running CICS/TS?

Louie, we're really interested in this subject too. Our biggest issue is with our 3rd party vendors not being willing or able to price their software this way. And unfortunately some of our 3rd party products are the most expensive ones we have.

The ISVs need to get their ducks in a row on this, as a "Group", if you know
what I mean :-)

Take a look at the 'About VSE' link on the VSE home page. It has some
info on MWLC and what it's all about. It also talks about the products
IBM products that it works with and has a link to more info.

Mike Moore wrote an article for a previous issue of the zJournal that
has good info about his experience. Check it out a zjournal.com.

and in addition to Richs "pointers", you may watch the playback of a
Live Virtual Class that Mike Moore has given about this topic some
time ago: http://www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/zseries/zvse/education/#completed

Look for "z/VSE V4.1 Experiences (June 21, 2007)" as well as "Midrange
Workload Licensing Charges for z/VSE (February 22, 2007)" from Klaus
Goebel.

If you have CA products, they have a measured workload pricing program. I participated in the beta they had. It wouldn't have saved me any money.
