I'm looking for the equivalent of the "Data Areas" manual for CICS/TS and haven't had any success finding it on the CDs or web.  Can someone point me in the right direction?

What is it you are looking for? (There are a lot less "Data Areas" accessible in CICS/TS)

Karl,

I have this book. It is called "CICS Transaction Server for VSE/ESA CICS
Data Areas" LY33-6086-01. I had to order the hardcopy book from IBM. As far
as I know not available on web or CD
Is there a particular section of the book (or control block) you are
interested in ?

I stand corrected. I couldn't find it (as Mike states) on the latest
CD.

These manuals have to be ordered from IBM and now consist of two separate
manuals CICS Data Areas (old control blocks) LY33-6086 and CICS Supplemental
Data Areas (new control blocks) LY33-6087. The manual numbers may have
changed.

Karl,

Do you have the name that was used by CICS/VSE 2.3 ? I can't seem to find
them in the CICS/TS Data Areas book. There is a pointer called CSAPCTTA (at
CSA + x'1d0') that contains the address of the Program Control Table Prefix
but no PPT. Will keep on looking but in my not be in CSA (maybe it is
accessed through the Table Manager ?)

Mike -

I saw reference to these control blocks in the Problem determination guide:

PPTE program processing table element
PPTTE program processing table entries

What I'm looking for is the equivalent to the old PPTPS in CICS/VSE 2.3.

Thanks - Karl

Hi Karl:

The PPT/PPTE are no longer anchored off the CSA. They are part of the
Directory Domain. You need to get the Supplemental Data Areas for these
control blocks.

Gene

That is quite possibly no longer available. Part of the CICS/TS
restructuring was to remove a lot of anchors and links so that non IBM
code couldn't tamper with them.

New references were provided for somethings and documented in the
CICS/TS Systems Programming Reference.

Hi Karl:

These are the ones you need but are no longer as easy to get to as in the
CICS/VSE. You need to locate the Kernel (KCB) that contains a pointer to
the Domain Table. In the table you have to look up the Directory Domain
(DD). The DD is the replacement (not entirely) of the Table Manager. In the
DD you need to locate the different entries until you find the PPT entry.
Then you have to follow a chain or use the hash table to locate the entries.
Why do you need to look at a PPT(E)?

Gene

Gene, et all -

Thanks for the assistance.

I'm more interested in the PPTTE for a particular program. The PPTE is one
of those "curiosity" things...

In ordering the manuals, the "01" levels for LY33-6086 & LY33-6087 are the
most current. The publication titles and the pricing are interesting even
though the abstracts are the same for both rev levels.

LY33-6086-00 CICS Transaction Server for VSE/ESA V1R1 Data Areas - Price
$35.00 (USD) - 1999 - 602 pages
LY33-6086-01 CICS Transaction Server for VSE/ESA V1.0 Data Areas - Price
$98.00 (USD) - 2000 - 638 pages

LY33-6087-00 CICS Transaction Server for VSE/ESA V1R1 Supplementary Data
Areas - Price $20.00 (USD) - 1999 - 276 pages
LY33-6087-01 CICS Transaction Server for VSE/ESA V1.0 Supplementary Data
Areas - Price $ 7.90 (USD) - 2000 - 314 pages
