Conversion of COBOL copybooks to Easytrieve format

Anyone have Rexx or Clist utility that they can share that will convert a
standard COBOL copybook / record layout into the equivalent Easytrieve+
layout?

On the off-chance that your shop has the product, Macro4's InSync does that
as one of the choices under option 4 ("Layout"). I don't remember, but
perhaps CompuWare's File-AID also does this.

Try %cblcnvrt macro of easytrieve (I think its new function within 1.3).
Below please find a snapshoot from the manual:

The CBLCNVRT (COBOL to CA-Easytrieve Plus) routine converts COBOL file
and field definitions
to their CA-Easytrieve Plus equivalent. CBLCNVRT determines the file
characteristics, the field
name, and the attributes for each COBOL field.

The converted file and field definitions are listed in a report and
written to a file.

Roy, you might want to be careful with that...

Look at the COBOL it generates. We don't use Easytrieve here,
we use CA-Vision:Report (formerly Quikjob) and they have
added a COBOL conversion routine, but the code it generates
is completely inadequate. We told our programmers not to use
it.
