I have written sometimes to this list. I use to read it almost
everyday. It's very good to know what is happenning to our tx friends...
For now I would like to know if everybody lives so concerned about
colds, flu and other illnesses.
I don't understand why, but my daughter, who had a liver tx on 1988,
lives almost like everybody here and, God bless, she has no problems. Of
course we take care of her, but it's not easy with teenagers...
On the first years we were afraid of people too. But as time went by,
we learned how to take care of her without being desperated.
Now she goes to beaches ( we avoid ones with lots of people), she
rides horses, goes to movies, parties, and so on. She used to do this for
the last five or six years.
She goes to school regularly.
This week there will be a very big party in our City. It's called
Maceio Fest (from festival). There will be almost half million people
playing, dancing and jumping (it´s really jumping with the musicians)
together. The street is closed and about ten big trucks with brazilian bands
playing so loud (about 30,000 watts) pass trough it. People goes dancing
along with theses trucks. It is like a parade, but people doesn't just watch
it. People takes part of it.
Every year my daughter goes to this festival with me. It is part of
her spirit or soul. She loves it (me too!). I cannot say her not to go. Her
doctor in Brazil lets she go.
I do not want you to change your minds. I agree with all of you that
we are responsible of what we do and we need to take care. I just want you
to know that there is a very good life after transplant.
I would like to make some questions, I hope Dr. Punch and any of you
can answer me:
Is it possible that her body "knows" after ten years liver tx how to
"defend" itself without putting her new liver in risk?
Can brazilian people for living in a tropical country, warm and with a lot
of bacteries in the air be stronger? I mean do we have a better
imunossupressive system?
She will be 15 years old on next January. What kind of care should she take
when she get a boyfriend? (I will try kill them all but imagine I can't .
Just kidding. Every new thing on her life is a new thing to commemorate).
Have a Merry Christmas and Healthy New Year!
