Hi there, everybody! New member here. Tomorrow (Sept. 23rd) will be
the one-month anniversary of my kidney transplant, done at Albany (N.Y.)
Medical Center. I'm slowly recovering, and all the doctors say I'm
doing well. I'm still staying with relatives, but hope to be back home
soon.

Anyway, to get on to the topic: I still have mild but steady pain (maybe
2 on a scale of 10) in my testicles, more so in the right one, and there
wasn't any pain there pre-tx. I'm told this is a common occurrence
after a kidney tx, because the surgery is in pretty much the same area.
The doctors say this will go away "eventually". My question for you,
if this happened to you or someone you know, is: how long did it take
for the pain to go away, or at least subside to a negligible level? I
realize everyone is different, but I'd appreciate a general idea.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can enlighten me on this!

I've never heard anyone talk about this and my Doctor has never
mentioned it- But I am glad you did. I have had constant pain since
my TX 3 years ago. Furthermore my right testicle is much higher up
now. It will not descend tot he bottom of my scrotum. The pain is
mild, but constant.
I mentioned it once to my surgeon and he blew it off (no pun
intended) but then he has the personality and warmth of a glacier.
Since then I've been hesitant to mention it to my regular doctor
because I figured I was just being a wimp.
I realize this is TMI, but I now wonder if there are others out
there that have ignored it? Partly because of never seeing it
mentioned before.
Thank you
Sean

I had a transplant Oct.6th and everything is going good. I too have
pain in my right testicle. After surgery the R one was lower than
before and pretty tender. Now is is at normal level but still tender.
It would be good to hear from others rgarding how long this is
expected to continue and how common this is.

July 2015)It's been 4 weeks post op now for my husband who was a kidney transplant patient (cadaver)at Georgetown University Hospital and his testicular pain began in the hospital and was blamed on his catheter which is removed but the pain is worsening and constant not to mention the swelling.funny thing is this pain seems to be greater than the kidney surgery. No one forewarned him of such side affects ! He is embarrassed & people assume he walks as tho in pain from the kidney incision ( he says that doesn't even pain him just the testicles)... We will inquire today at his appt.

I'm in the same situation. What did your husband's doc say? I was told there could be problems with the lymphatic system in the area causing the swelling. I was also not forewarned, not that it would have made a difference. I walked in pain for months it seemed like. The pain subsided as did the swelling after 8-9 months but never went away completely. It's been 2 1/2 years since my transplant. The swelling and pain are coming back. I'll be talking to my doc about this again at my next visit.

Hello I'm going on 2 years post kidney and pancreas transplant.and now my right testicle had ascended with lots of pain. Doc don't no why so I saw my urologist and was told I had 2 choices have incision on my pelvic area and pull cord down.which I did it brought it down but pain is still there. So 2nd choice is to remove it. So looks that's where I'm going I'm blessed with my transplant but my quality of life is nothing but pain. And my transplant team just push it aside. And found out it's always the right testicle.

I had a kidney tx four months ago. Mild pain in the area, but tremendous swelling and black and blue. Black and blue almost everywhere on right side where kidney went. It was mostly resolved by 2.5 - 3 months
