I hope this goes to the right newsgroup. I am looking for information on
traveling by ferry - particularly fast ferries. Basically, are they economical,
what are people's concerns about riding them, do people like them, etc. Any
information would be helpful.

I am writing a report on this topic and actually need information asap.
Thanks!

I suggest posting to the TRANSIT list (this one seems to be close to death).

Popular ferries I know of include: San Francisco area (many, run by Golden
Gate Transit and others), Vancouver (SeaBus run by BC Transit), Quebec
City/Levis, and the English Channel.

I should qualify this. These are run as part of an overall transit system,
where building a bridge (either for buses or trains) would be impractical.
There are of course many other ferries to recreational areas on islands.
