I am sure you have more than one copy of toolbook installed on your system.
Try to run your program with the exact command line:

ex.
C:\YOURDIR\MTB40RUN.EXE C:\YOURDIR\YOURAPP.TBK

Toolbook ask the password because it starts in author mode.

This happens when you run a book created with one version in a different
version.

Thanks for the responses but heres where I am confused. My .tbk is
asscociated with mmtb40run.exe and
I double click the program from explorer or file manager it runs
mtb40run.exe and DOES NOT ask for
a password. If I FIRST open mtb40run.exe and BROWSE to my toolbook file,
toolbook asks for a password.
My mtb40run.exe after browsing asks for a password. ACK! :o

Are you sure you have not set up a password to open the book rather than to
switch to author level?

Yup. It's for author mode only. I've tried turning them all on, all off,
different
combonations, different computers (with toolbook 4.0) all the same result.

I think somthing is wrong with my toolbook file (other toolbook files work
fine).

A bug??

Have the same thing once in a while :-(
With other TBK versions (a persisting bug!?).

Never found a rule why and when it happens. Didn't find a
general way to get around either.

Last time, the following did work:

1) Start with the first handler (e.g. "to handle enterbook") which
will be activated opening your "strange" TBK file and insert "break
to system" as the FIRST executable line.

2)Then check if password request disappears.

3)If yes, delete "break to system" and insert it before line TWO.

4) Check again.

5) Go on with line THREE, FOUR and so on.

In our case, the password request re-appeared somewhere in the middle
of the handler. So we left the "break" statement in this place and
put all the consecutive lines into a different handler.
It works, although I will never be able to tell you why. Just fight
the irrational with it's own weapons!
